Thrown Out at Age 60 Of Troy MI McDonalds

I'm a senior citizen and a McDonalds customer since 1955, but my experience at the McDonalds at Rochester and Big Beaver roads in Troy Michigan has probably changed that. For the first time in 55 years of going to McDonalds, this morning my wife and I were told we had to leave the premises immediately. The manager (or franchisee) said this loud enough while standing right next to me that the few customers in the restaurant, as well as the employees behind the counter, all turned and looked at us. (I can only assume that because we are old, we must be hard of hearing.) Saying nothing other than thank you to the manager (possibly the franchise owner) we immediately left, embarrassed and in shock. The reason we had to leave; we brought a bagel from home to eat with the soft drinks we purchased at the resturant. We were told you can't bring your own food into Applebee's and you can't do it in a McDonalds either because it is CORPORATE policy. Being retired senior citizens on a fixed income we can't afford to go out much and one morning per week, my wife and I go to this McDonalds at breakfast because the staff there is nice and can watch CNN on their big TV. We are regular customers at this store two or three times per week, but except for Saturday morning, it is always at the drive thru, taking the food home to eat. We typically spend $7 - $11 per meal the other times. But based on this morning's experience, we will most never return to this store again, and probably skip McDonalds altogether. Ironically, the few times we have eaten lunch in the store's dining room, we have seen other customers come in and eat sub sandwiches from Jimmie Johns or burrito's from Qdoba, both restaurants within 100 feet of this store, and not buying anything, or just an iced tea or Coke. Never has anyone said anything to them, but all were much younger than I or my wife. It is also common to see moms come in and bring food for themselves from another fast food chain, while they buy a Happy Meal for their child. And they all eat inside this restaurant. It appears only seniors must buy drinks AND food to eat in this store. On several occasions, we've watched people come in carrying used large soft drink cups, and only order an item off the dollar menu while refilling their old cups, and not one word was said - and the employees see this and laugh about it. It also appears to be common with certain groups of people to come in with an old sandwich wrapper and complain about the food that supposedly was bought earlier - again, they get new sandwiches and on two occasions, new drink cups as well, while not spending a single dime, and nothing is said to these people. The best one is to order a medium or large fry, eat half or two thirds of them, and go back to the counter and complain that what's left is cold. These folks got a new full order of fries, and no says anything. Another example happened three weeks ago when my wife and I went there for lunch on a Friday. We ordered two fish sandwiches, small fry and two large drinks. The ladies in line in front of us ordered two of the fish sandwich meals, with small fry and drink. When the shift manager, who was putting food orders on the trays for the cashiers, saw these two ladies, apparently they were old friends as she told someone on the cooking line to make some fresh sandwiches and fries for her friends, while she just took one of the small fries off their tray, and handed it to me. When I asked if I could have fresh sandwiches and fries, she just said, "these are fresh," and set the tray down and walked away. Her friends got a big kick out of this, and the manager obviously didn't know that I heard her say," her friends always get the fresh food," as I walked away. By the way, anything but freshly fired fish aren't that good any more. I guess if you are young, or a minority, you can get free food or *** or whatever you want, and no one at this McDonalds will say a thing. But if you are old, they'll throw you out for having the gall to bring a bagel in to eat with the drinks you purchase. I'll take my money elsewhere.

I agree you shouldn't bring outside food into a restaurant, that being said, I am convinced this IS the single worst McDonalds location on the planet. It's less than a mile from my house, so i continue to go there.

Every time i go, they are rude, get the order wrong, and half fill the fries. In the drive-thru they told me I had to come inside to order a half cut iced tea. The service is so bad it's almost comical.

Someone from corporate needs to straighten that place out. Its been *** since it first opened.

Let me guess...you and your wife order a coffee, then sit there all morning getting refills and making comments about other people all while eating food you brought from home.

I'm surprised you aren't dead after eating McDonald's since 1955!

i see people doing this all the time, and in every single instance they have been asked to leave,or at least ditch the food they bought elsewhere. why would anyone have the nerve to take something they purchased somewhere else into another restaurant? what has happened to common sense?

So..."I'm old, I can take outside food into your restaurant and eat it whenever I want! To *** with the rules everyone else has known about since they were ten, I'm so f^^king entitled now that I can use my age as a rhetorical bludgeon!"

Hurry up and die - which seems pretty likely if you're eating McDonald's at 60 - Earth is for the young.

"I guess if you are young, or a minority, you can get free food or *** or whatever you want"

I guess if you were old AND black next time you wouldn't get kicked out.

Your logic.

Shop locally.

After 55 years of being treated nicely and one bad experience you boycott them. Good they don't need you.

You can't afford to eat there anyway. Shame on you for using your age as an excuse when you were clearly in the wrong and deserved to be kicked out.

All I can say sir, is that I'm sorry that happend to you. Yes it's true that you shouldn't/can't bring outside food in the restraunt, but many managers that I know of will just let it slide.

The fact alone that you were embarrassed in front of so many people like that is inexcusable.

They should have lowered their voice so that only you could hear them, not the entire store.

I encourage you to call up the owner of that restraunt and explain to them what happend. I hope they'll be able to do something for you.

I like to order 2 hamburgers a medium fry and a medium drink. The burgers are 99 cents, the fries are $1.59 and the drink is $1.00 for a total of $4.57 plus tax. The McDonald's off 35E and Hwy 96 near White Bear MN tries to turn the burgers and fry into a meal at $3.79...

Please be aware that the only time soft drinks are $1.00 is during the summer time. And the prices do go up without warning.

The embrassement harmfuf to you and your family? It sounds like way too many girls gone wild episodes buddy!!!

Dont try to pick up at the drive thru, you slow down the line, go to Wendy's and do that. If the police come by again tell them you eat jumbo jacks now, the chicks are hotter at jack n the box.

Also, if you insist on making the drive thru your hunting ground, keep both hands on the steering wheel. Trust me on that one....

I was at your store inside the Walmart on Hwy. 150, Hoover, Al yesterday, April 14th, 2010.The employee (black girl) took my order of 1 ice cream cone. The employee in the preparation food area (white girl)pulled her gloves off and handed the girl that waited on me,...

gloves are required only when preparing food that is ready to eat, if it is to be cooked then gloves are not required. if switching from making cooked food to ready to eat food gloves must be used. it is assumed that cooking the food will kill any bacteria aquired during the handling.

McDonalds review in Ingleside, Texas: Informed me they didn't take over 2 orders in drive thur.

I took a group of people to the Aransas Pass mcdonalds and we had 3 people that were ordering and they said they could only take 2. That I would have to drive thru again and make one more order. This is ***. What is the purpose of going through the line again? We will never go there again. The workers in there had an attitude and didn't even get my order right.Someone needs to train mcdonalds employees better in order to serve the area and customers.I cant think of anything else to write. I got it off my chest..............................................................................................................................................

You are pretty much out of line on this one. If everyone in the drive thru had multiple orders it would not move. Drive thru windows are supposed to be faster.

you ***, employees are ordered to only allow a maximum of two separate orders in drive through, so either suck it up or get your *** inside.

Here's a neat concept. Order everything as one order. Surely you can do simple math and separate out who owes what!

McDonalds gave me contaminated food

While visiting Chinatown to visit my Orthodontist, my friend and I stopped by at a McDonalds for lunch. We both ordered 2 Grillled Chicken Snack Wraps with BBQ and 2 apple pies. By the time we were at my orthodontist, my friend was barfing in the bathroom, and he felt dizzy and sick, and I had a stomach ache. Unfortunately, we have no proof that this happened, and I can't sue them like the other people. McDonalds disappointed me, I'll be sure to speak with their managers and such when I visit that McDonalds again. Three word filler

I know how you guys feel. I am going through this sickness myself and I am upset.

Last night at mcdonalds, I went through the drive thru. I ordered chicken nuggets and a mcflurry.

I couldn't stop throwing up at 1 am till 3 am. On top of it all, I had the slowest service possible.

McDonalds receives the chicken frozen, already cooked. So it's really not possible it was raw.
