My name is marie davis, on January 18, 2013 at 10:30 am I entered into MacDonald on 9560 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL to purchase several food items. Upon paying for these food items the cashier did her normal procedure of review ing currency(money) but she noticed that one of the currency happens to be counterfeit by looking at the money by holding the money up hight towards a light.

she did not mark on the money anywhere. so that I would be able to identiy counterfeit money

I asked how can I tell if the money is counterfeit

At that time the cashier stated the one of the $5.00 bill was counterfeit. She called her superviser over - he then took the money and then stated that he is going to call the police - I waited for 30 minutes - The police never arrived - but while I was waiting the other superviser which was a young lady made me feel like I was the criminal and she stated that it was my fault that I had counterfiet money.

The owner kept the money however I called the police myself and they indicated the MacDonald never called the police - The police stated they have no records on their computer or no police report had ever been requested by McDonald

My complaint is:

The lady supervisor was rude, very hurtful, she left me with a feeling of uneasiness, and she would not assist me in any way

MaDonald lied stating theat they called the police and the police has no records or evidence showing that they called to report counterfeit money

The police has no records showing what happen with the currency - as far as I know MacDonald kept the money for themself;

WHAT DID MACDONALD DO WITH THE COUNTERFIELD MONEY BECAUSE THEY DID NOT RETURN THE MONEY TO ME NOR DOES THE POLICE HAVE ANY RECORDS SHOWING THAT MACDONALD GAVE THE MONEY TO THEM

SO I SAY MACDONALD GOT MONEY FROM A CONSUMER WHO WAS JUST TRYING TO SUPPORT A BLACK COMPANY

WHAT DO YOUR THE MACDONALD CORPORATE SAY ABOUT THIS SITUATION

i EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU WITHIN A FEW DAYS

THANKS,

MARIE

Hello, I seem to remember reading that if a merchant discovers a counterfeit bill, that they are required by law to keep it and turn it in to authorities. But, that does not excuse the merchant from lying about calling the police.

I think you could make a formal complaint with the police about the conduct of the merchant.

But, I doubt you will get back your original five dollars whether or not it was counterfeit in the beginning.

How would it help you to identify counterfeit money, if the cashier had marked that one bill? She sure as the world didn't have time to go through all your money to mark it if there was any more counterfeit money.

What do you mean you were just trying to support a black company? You sound like you expect a royal treatment, and maybe that is part of your problem. Do honestly expect people at McDonald's corporate office to read this site. I'm sure if you look a little bit, you can find a way to contact them, if when you cool off, you still think you were mistreated.

There are all kinds of articles and news items telling how to spot counterfeit money, I suggest you look some of them up.
